Carl W. Schahrer

Carl Wilbert Schahrer, 75, formerly of Olney, died Saturday August 24, 1996 at his home in Bakersfield, California.  The body was cremated and a memorial service held at North Minister Presbyterian Church in Bakersfield.

Schahrer was born September 3, 1920 in Glendale, Ariz. the son of Wilbert Henry and Leila Gertrude (Scherer) Schahrer. He married Geneva Reed in October 1944 and she survives.

He was a retired Air Force veteran, having piloted one of the B29's called "The Boomerang," which flew in the last raid over Japan. He was a certified public accountant, working as administrator for Kern-Mono-Inyo counties for the California State Board of Equalization, retiring after 38 years of service. He was treasurer for many years for the Bakersfield Lions Club and was an active member of Service Corps of Retired Executives.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Vera Senn and her husband, Randy of Ephrata, Wash. and Lisa Cheek of Bakersfield, Calif.; one son, Klint Schahrer and his wife, Yvonne of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Mary Beth Winchester and her husband, Robert of Olney; a brother Irl Christian Schahrer of Bellingham, Wash.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a granddaughter.
