Donald Lewis Emlen

Donald Lewis Emlen, 52, of Rutland, Illinois died Friday at 9:10 p.m, December 4, 1970. of a heart attack, enroute to St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator.  Funeral services at the Thierry Funeral Home, Wenona with Rev. L.P. Flynn of Eureka officiating. Burial in Rutland Cemetery.

Don was born September 26, 1918 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a son of Thomas Harvey and Belle Elizabeth Parks Emlen. He married Roberta Harvey July 4, 1941 at Palmyra, Missouri.

Mr. Emlen served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Rutland American Legion. He was employed for 15 years by Caterpillar Tractor Company of Peoria. At the time of his death he was Senior Systems Analyst of the worldwide data processing department.

Surviving are his wife, Roberta; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Gerdes of Benson and Karen at home; two sons, Thomas of Germantown Hills and Doug of Benson; four grandchildren; a brother, Julian of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
