Neal VanFossan

Neal VanFossan, 70 ,of Houston, Texas, formerly of Mt. Erie, died Friday, September 14, 1990 at the Memorial City Hospital in Houston, Texas.  Burial held in Browns Cemetery, west of Mt. Erie.

Mr. VanFossan was born on November 19, 1919 in Mt. Erie to Joseph and Leota (Johnson) VanFossan. He later married Dora Lee Henderson in San Antonio, Texas on November 10 1942.

Mr. VanFossan was a retired engineer for Union Texas Petroleum, a division of Allied Chemical and an engineer for Texas Brine. He was a graduate of East Richland High School in Olney and of U of I where he received his B.S. in mechanical engineering. He was also a World War II veteran. Mr. VanFossan was a member of the Fair Haven Methodist Church in Houston. He was a member and past president of Solution Mining Research and a member of the Gas Processors Association. He was also a member of the Texas Chemical Council.

Mr. VanFossan is survived by his wife, one son, Neal Jr. of San Francisco, California. He is also survived by three daughters, Janice Thomas of Dallas, Texas, Gretchen VanFossan, of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Andy (Karen) Post, of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Everett (Kathleen) Enlow, of Cisne. HE is also survived by six grandchildren, three nieces and nephews and two aunts, Marjorie Ford, of Olney and Enola VanFossan, of Olney.

Mr. VanFossan was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one brother.
