
Dorris A. Nickells, 95, of Island, Kentucky, formerly of Olney, Ill., passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Owensboro.
Dorris Arlene Wells was born June 16, 1919 in Olney, Ill. to the late George Washington and Matte Blanch Smith Wells and retired as the supervisor of medical records at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. She was a member of the Olney Church of Christ and a hand tool leather craftsman, who hand constructed Roy Rogers' horse saddles.
In addition to her parents, Dorris was preceded in death by a daughter, Monica Hance.
Survivors include three sons, Tom Nickells and wife, Vicki of Olney, George Nickells of Vincennes, Ind., and Bud Nickells of Island; 7 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a great great grandson.
Funeral services at Summers–Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney.
