Zelda F. (Crites) Phipps, age 81, of Mattoon, Illinois passed away Friday, October 20, 2000 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Graveside services at Dodge Grove Cemetery with Dr. Mark Prevo officiating.

Zelda F. Phipps was born February 10, 1919 in Richland County, Illinois, a daughter of Edgar and Carrie Avice Leist Crites. She married her husband of 63 years, Vernon T. Phipps June 26, 1937 at Olney, Illinois, he survives.

Also surviving are her daughter, Shelby Runyen and husband Loy of Dundas, Illinois; grandchildren, Debbie Weiler and husband Bill of Claremont and Dewayne Runyen and wife Pam of Olney. Two great-grandchildren, Erin Weiler and Derek Weiler also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.Mrs. Phipps was a member of First Christian Church, Mattoon and was a former employee of American Pad and Paper in Mattoon.
