
Paradise, California resident, Henry “Hank” Wilburn Hubbard, 71 died Saturday, April 13, 1991 at a Chico hospital following a year and a half battle with cancer. Mr. Hubbard was born July 20, 1919 in Equality, Illinois son of Noah and Anna (Skates) Hubbard. Census records show the Hubbard family lived in Richland County, Madison Township, during the 30’s and 40’s.
Mr. Hubbard drove a truck for a short time before going into the Army Air Forces at the start of World War II. He served as a gunner, mechanic and radio operator. He served in the Central and Asiatic Pacific campaigns. When he was discharged in 1945, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters and several other ribbons for his service.
He then went to work for Sears Roebuck & Co. where he was employed for 30 years. He worked in the Berea branch as a supervisor in the service department. He retired in 1974 and moved to Paradise from Fullerton.
He was a member of the Paradise Pines Golf Club, SIRS branch #82 and he attended the Paradise Alliance Church.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Clarice of Paradise; one son, Brad of Newport Beach; one daughter, Sharon Walker of Huntington Beach and four grandchildren.
A private family memorial service held in southern California, no service in Paradise. Cremation at a later date. Burial in Paradise Cemetery, Paradise, California.
