Drag Olney Lake for Body

Olney, Ill. – State Police and local authorities searched Vernor Lake with drag lines today and recovered the body of a St. Petersburg, Florida man who drowned, Thursday, July 16, 1959.

Roy A. Myers, 52, left two companions on the shore early yesterday, after telling them he planned to swim across the lake. Myers splashed into the water and disappeared in the darkness, his companions said.

An Olney native, Myers had returned for a visit.

Roy was born September 26, 1911 son of William and Della (McCall) Myers. He married Jane Wharf in 1933.
