John W. Black, age 74, of Rt. 1, Claremont, German Township, passed away this morning February 28, 1977 at the Richland Memorial Hospital. Funeral services at Summers Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Horst officiating. Interment in Crest Haven Memorial Park.
Mr. Black was a lifelong resident of Richland County and was the son of John Black and Mary George Black. He was married to Mildred Powell in 1933 in Olney and she preceded him in death in 1970. He had farmed most of his lifetime in German Township, near the Amity community. He was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Jones of Niantic and the following nieces and nephews; Karen Hudson of Decatur, William Cochran of Harristown, Robert Cochran of Decatur, Donald Cochran and Roy Cochran both of Mesa, Ariz.
Besides his wife, he had been preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
