Katie L. Jones - Class Of 2003

Katie L. Jones

Katie L. Jones, 37, of Olney, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at her home.
Katie was born March 10, 1985 in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of David and Gwen (Hanratty) Jones.

Katie was a born-again Christian, and she completely changed her outlook on life because of that. She was driven by music, God, and her beloved fur baby, Jack. Jack was her world and truly a blessing for all of her family as well.

Katie was more than a daughter, sister, and cousin. She was everything and then some. Katie was a bright spot in a lot of people’s lives. She could walk into a room and all eyes were on her. Even on her worst days, she still had that ability. She was charming and charismatic when she felt up to it.

Late nights were filled with being silly and goofy, listening to music, and talking. Katie had a knack for hearing a song and was usually able to sing every lyric, and she would remember it forever.

At a young age, Katie was diagnosed with Lupus. If anyone knew her, they knew that Katie was never one to complain much about her circumstances. She had several scares with her health, and as a family, we clung to each other, as well as the close friends she had. Katie was dealt some shocking blows to her life, but she dealt with everything with poise and grace. It strengthened her walk with the Lord. She touched so many people’s lives that she met, and she made them feel at ease about their own circumstances.

There are few words to describe the impact she had on her small town of Olney. Everyone she met through her many stays at the hospital became a new friend. When she was feeling well, she loved to speak with people about her strong bond with the Lord, and to hear them speak on their relationship with Him, as well. Katie will be treasured and deeply missed.

Katie is survived by her father, David L. Jones of Olney; sister Kellie Jones of Olney; step-brother, Dusty Jones of Olney; cousin, Matthew Travous of Mt. Carmel; fur child, Jack; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her maternal grandparents, Jack and Ethel Hanratty, and her paternal grandparents, Bob and Ann Jones, and her daughter, Anna Marie.

A memorial service will be held for Katie at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the family.
