Bernice Smejkal,  77 of Long Beach, California, died February 14, 1989 in Long Beach.  Burial and a memorial service held at Mt. Pleasant Church, southeast of Olney.

Survivors include her husband, Edward; two daughters, Cherlyn Hendricks, Long Beach, Calif. and Barbara Joan Rohr, rural Dundas; a sister, Erna "Billie" Rohde, rural Olney; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
