Ferne Faris (Hasslinger)

Ferne Elizabeth Faris Hasslinger, 96, of Olney, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney.  Burial in Haven Hill Memorial Garden in Olney.

Mrs. Hasslinger was born February 15, 1912, in Richland County, the daughter of John Arthur and Ida Victoria (Schmoker) Faris. She married Glenn Edward Hasslinger on June 26, 1938. He preceded her in death October 18, 1995.

She graduated from Olney Township High School in 1930 and Lockyear's Business College in Evansville, Ind., in 1931. She had worked at International Shoe Factory, Schmalhausen Drug Store and Burch Grocery Store. She and her husband owned the F&G Drive-in. She was a long-time member of Evangelical United Brethren Church, Immanuel United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church. She loved to spend time with family, play piano and read.

Mrs. Hasslinger is survived by daughter, Sue Lynn Rohr, of Olney, grandson, John Arthur Rohr, of Olney, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Janet Elaine, and sister, Florene Eloise Smith.
