Claudine Pope, 76, Urbana, Illinois and formerly of Olney, died Wednesday, October 18, 1989 in the Royal Fontana Nursing Home in Urbana.  Services in Mittendorf-Calvert-Morgan Funeral Home in Champaign with the Rev. Dr. Malcolm Nygren presiding.  Burial in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Champaign.

Mrs. Pope was born May 15, 1913 in Richland County, the daughter of C.C. “Bud” and Lula M. (Coffman) Bowen.  She married John C. Pope September 2, 1933 in Springfield and he preceded her in death January 25, 1973.

She was a receptionist for Dr. Tom Skaggs in Champaign.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Champaign.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Spalding, Champaign; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
