Frederick Maxton "Max" Provines, 87, of Olney died Saturday, November 17, 2001 at Mary Burgin's Boarding Home in Olney.   Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Mr. Provines was born on January 23, 1914 in Richland County, the son of Eli and Cora (Mattoon) Provines. He married Martha Rash on October 20, 1946. She preceded him in death on November 14, 1980.

He was a retired farmer and member of Berryville Christian Church. He was also a member of Richland County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Provines is survived by several nieces and nephews, Dorothy Fern Provines, Marshall E. Provines, Robert Leist, Norma Jean Scherer, Floella Michels, Maxton Leist, Shirley Beagle, and Jack Provines all of Olney, Nancy Harrison, Joanne Guyot, Richard Provines and Joe Provines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Fern Leist; four brothers, Forrest, Opal, Percy and Richard and one niece, Judy Davis.
