Leotis "Odie" Burget, 86, of Claremont, died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Odie was born on August 24, 1930 in Claremont, Illinois, the son of Murl and Perna (Whipkey) Burget.  He married Katherine Spitz on May 11, 1951.  She preceded him in death on August 3, 1998.

Odie was retired from Prairie Farms and farming, he also worked for the Claremont Township. Odie enjoyed being around people and socializing with friends and family.  He took pleasure in outside activities including yard work.  He would often be seen driving his truck or mule (side-by-side) with his dog, Susie, on his lap.  Odie will be best remembered for his wit and humor.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lawrenceville.

Odie is survived by his daughter, Sharon Jones and husband Mike of Claremont; Daughter, Jacqueline Madden and husband Jeff of Claremont; Son, David Burget and wife Laura of Moweaqua, IL; Grandchildren, Shree (Tony) Meade of Mobile, AL, Jesse (Amy) Jones of Mobile, AL, Seth Jones of Claremont, Brad (Nika) Madden of Bartlesville, OK, Jenny (Aaron) Stevenson of Olney, Bo (Megan) Madden of Olney, Levi (Britany Cowan) Denton of Moweaqua, Zachery (Kayla Horton) Burget of Pana;
12 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Louise (Don) Fritschle of Olney; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Deborah, and brother, Carroll Burget.
