Thirza Marie Eberhart (Badger) - Class Of 1947

Thirza Marie Eberhart (Badger)

Thirza Marie (Eberhart) Badger, 92, of Edmond, Oklahoma closed the final chapter of her life to be with her loved ones in heaven on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Her parents, John and Iona Eberhart, brought her into this world on December 21, 1928 in Gainesville, Texas.

A member of the National Honor Society, Thirza graduated from Olney Township High School in 1947. Thirza made her career as a homemaker alongside her late husband of 63 years, Glen Badger. They settled their family in Edmond in 1958, where they raised their four children. As an award-winning artist, Thirza was well-known for her exquisite, handmade afghans; family stockings, and quilts. Her summers were spent gardening, canning, traveling, and spending time with family. As a woman of faith, Thirza was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over sixty years, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Women. Thirza was well-loved and respected by all who met her. Family and faith formed the core of her values. She lived by the motto that if you don’t have anything nice to say about someone, then don’t say anything at all.

She was very close to her grandchildren. Thirza taught her granddaughters the value of family and how to be strong, independent women. She taught her grandsons to respect women and the importance of hard work.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Dwight Eberhart and Edgar Baker, and grandson Colin Christopher Badger.

She is survived by her daughter Vicki and her husband Robert Ward; her son David and his wife Cindy; her son Terry and her daughter Debbie Badger. She has eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Thirza brought a tremendous amount of love, hope, and understanding into the lives of her family and friends. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
