Frances Kurtz (Miller)

Frances Jean Miller, 85 of Olney died Friday, December 30, 2011 at her residence. Graveside farewell at Crest Haven Cemetery.

Frances Jean Miller was born in Osage, IA March 21, 1936 to Luther & Marguerite (Lewis) Kurtz. Frances, her sisters, Dorothy Keen and Edna Gonzales along with their father moved to Olney following Marguerites death.

Fran attended Oakridge Grade School and graduated from the Olney Township High School in 1944. Following in her sister Dorothy’s footsteps she went to nursing school. While attending school Frances met the love of her life - Robert F (Bob) Miller. They were married Oct 26, 1946.

Fran and Bob had 3 daughters, Betty (Jean) Ramey, Sidney Ann Glassmire and Margie Nell Lenear. Fran had a long and enjoyable life. She enjoyed working in the family gardens and assisting Bob in the garage with whatever hobby he was working on at the time. She also loved to sew and for a short time worked as a seamstress for Musgrove Men’s Wear. However she preferred to sew for her daughters and several clients while at home with her basset hound “Andy” lying at her feet.

Fran was a life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Over the years she taught Sunday School, assisted in directing various youth groups, served as a Communion Steward, Prayer Chain leader and she also assisted with the monthly newsletter.
