Mary Callahan (Greer)

Mary "Carolyn" Callahan Greer, 83, passed away peacefully with her family around her on September 21, 2011.  Services at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Phoenix.  Interment at Green Acres Cemetery.

She was born January 30, 1928 in Zeigler, IL, daughter of Elbe Walk and Emma Lederer Callahan and came to Phoenix in 1950.  “Carolyn” graduated from Olney Township High School in 1944, coming from Cape Girardeau, Missouri to complete her senior year at OTHS.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Paul, daughters Linda, Susan (Ron) and Lisa (Steve), son David (Jeanie), grandchildren Michele (John), Ryan (Sharon), Kim, Robyn (Joe), Kevin (Melissa), Jacob (Natalie), Aaron (Marissa) and Justin (Lucia), and 16 great-grandchildren, who will all miss her greatly.

She earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from ASU and spent 12 years as a Social Worker at Maricopa County Medical Center. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She loved Mexican food and playing cards with her friends.
