Evelyn Viola (Berry) Smith, 83, of Streator, Illinois passed away Friday, August 20, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hosptial. Funeral services at Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Ryan Garner officiating. Burial in Phillips Cemetery, Cornell, Illinois.

Evelyn was born on January 20, 1927 in Decatur, Illinois to William Ralph and Eclissa V. (Oakes) Berry. She married Charles S. Smith on May 25, 1946 in Vancouver, Washington. He passed away August 4, 1958.

She is survived by sons, Charlie, Dave (Georgia) and Roger Smith and a daughter, Karen (Bill) Clayton, all of Streator; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Mary) Berry and Virgil (LaVonne) Dawson, both of Manito.

Evelyn was preceded in death by a son, Morris; grandson-in-law, Jeff Heinz; brothers, Frank, Roy and Everett and sisters, Doris Ruth and Rachel.

She retired from Owens Illinois Glass in 1987 and was a caregiver for numerous friends and neighbors and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Evelyn was a devoted Christian and she is now walking with Jesus.
