Charles Owen Lathrop, 85, of Olney and formerly of Berryville, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Cremation rites were accorded.

Mr. Lathrop was born July 2, 1924, in Berryville, the son of Bert A. and Mamie (Jennings) Lathrop. He married Betty (Whiteside) Lathrop on December 24, 1944. She preceded him in death November 12, 2007.

He was a farmer, oilfield worker, AMF employee and Buehler's employee. He was a member of Berryville Christian Church, Gideons International and American Legion. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Mr. Lathrop is survived by his daughter, Judy Heiser and her husband, Bill, of Olney; son, Charles O. Lathrop, of Calhoun; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert A. and Mamie Lathrop, wife, Betty Lathrop, one brother and two sisters.
