John Ridgley Doan, age 88, of Olney passed away at Richland Memorial Hospital on December 5, 2013.  John was born July 21, 1925 in Olney, IL.,  to John B. and Florence (Herrin) Doan. He married Miriam Jean Rinehart on July 31, 1949 and she precedes him in death.

John was always involved in the oilfield business. He began his career repairing equipment and eventually moved into sales. He then began his own business and during this time he invented a new pump that was capable of producing twice the production of anything currently on the market.

John was known for his quick wit and his love for his family. He had a passion for fishing and working in his woodworking shop.

He was a devout Christian and was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in Olney. John was very charitable and had many charitable organizations dear to his heart.

John is survived by his son, John Patrick Doan and wife Randi of Richland, MI; son, Stephen Terry Doan of Benton, AR; fraternal twins, Brent Jeffrey Doan and his wife Susan of Gibsonia, PA and Belinda Jean Foster of Olney; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sister, Frankie Kilburn of Lucerne Valley, CA; sister, Georgeann Waxler of Olney, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 2 brothers, Jeane and Louie Doan.
