Rodney A. Michels, 53, of Dundas, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.  Rod was born May 3, 1970 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Charles Michels and Linda (Keys) Tucker. He married Susan Snider on September 5, 1997 in Olney, and she survives.

Rod was owner, CEO/President of MAC Plastics Manufacturing. He employed 50 employees and was honored to be able to keep the business in the Olney community. Rod started his career in plastics 30 years ago and worked his way up from temp, to plant manager, to general manager prior to purchasing the company in 2019. He was proud to be able to work beside his two sons and wife for the last five years.

Rod was an avid sports fan and loved the New Orleans Saints "Who Dat!", LSU Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. He served as the Athletic Director at St. Joe for ten years and coached boys basketball for 15 years. He also coached his sons in baseball and football.

Rod also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. He especially loved taking his wife, his dog Roscoe, and his grandson on Ranger rides through the country.

Rod was a loving husband, father, papaw, mentor, and leader. He will be greatly missed.

Rodney A. Michels is survived by his wife, Susan Michels of Dundas; sons, Brandan Michels and wife, Kelly, of Olney; and Gunnar Michels and fiancée, Samantha, of Olney; grandson, Benson Michels; mother, Linda Tucker and husband Tommy of Ruston, LA; sister, Kimberly (Bradley) Alexander of Ruston, LA; and one niece and five nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Michels.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney.
