Olney Man Dies in One-Car Crash

An Olney man was killed in a one-vehicle accident about 1:30 p.m. Sunday about five miles northeast of Olney.

According to Richland County Coroner, Susan Bromm, James Alan Shuler, 19 was killed when, traveling northbound on Ste. Marie Road, his car left the roadway and struck a tree in a yard on the east side of the road.

According to the coroner, Shuler was pronounced dead at the scene.

James Alan Shuler, 19, 117 W. Mac, Olney, was killed in a one-car accident Sunday afternoon, March 14, 1982 on the Ste. Marie road.

Shuler was born Jan. 1, 1963, in Mt. Carmel, the son of Ray and Lavange (Dunlap) Shuler.

He was a student at Olney Central College and a member of Olney Southern Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shuler, Olney; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Larry, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Arthur and Cheryl; Davenport, Iowa; Jack and Diane, Ashland, Ohio; Dale and Carla, Carbondale; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Dunlap, Albion; a niece; a nephew; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
