Mike Hill

Michael “Mike” R. Hill, 57, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Olney, passed away February 21, 2021 due to complications following a one-vehicle accident. Mike was the son of Loran and Ann Hill, formerly of Olney.

Mike will be greatly missed. He had amazing charisma and cared so much about others. He will be remembered for his joyful spirit, love for his family, dedication to sharing his faith, passion for music, warm hugs, intelligence, creativity, and wonderful sense of humor. Mike had a wide breadth of knowledge and could always be counted on to come up with an obscure fact or line from a song or movie. He enjoyed striking up a game of darts, ping pong or Frisbee. He always spear-headed writing family skits for special occasions. Mike was a loving and involved father.

While a resident in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Mike enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams, inspiring students with his “Whiz Bang” science show and helping his community. He was active in his church ministries and also participated in outreach mission trips to restore homes for underserved populations.

Mike was the son of Loran and Ann (Stadtmiller) Hill of Indianapolis. He was the beloved father of three sons: Andrew (Christy) Hill of Madison Heights, Michigan; Austin (Mara) Hill of Chicago, and Mason Hill of Farmington, Michigan. Mike is survived by sisters Patricia (Nino) Bianchi of Richmond, Virginia; Kathleen (Chris Perez) Hill of Chicago, and brother David (Susan) Hill of Carmel, Indiana.

He attended St. Joseph Catholic School, East Richland High School and University of Illinois, receiving a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. At U of I, he was in the Delta Upsilon fraternity. He also received a master’s degree in polymer chemistry from University of Detroit Mercy. A highly competent operations excellence professional, Mike leveraged his Design for Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certifications to build organizational capability, lead step-function process improvements, and build systems to promote organizational learning, which improved the working lives of hundreds of associates. He held professional positions with BASF, Trinity Health and General Dynamics.

Although Mike will be greatly missed, it brings comfort to know he had a solid love of Christ and we will see him again one day.

Memorial services will be held at a later date due to pandemic restrictions.
