Jerry Bernard Jones - Class Of 1941

Jerry Bernard Jones

Gerald "Jerry" B. Jones, 89,  passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013, at Deconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Cremation rites were accorded and services will be held at a later date.

Jerry was born November 20, 1923 to Ray and Edith and was the fourth of their nine children. He met his wife Thelma in England where he was stationed during World War II. They married in England in December of 1945 and moved back to Olney. They had one son, Gerald Keith, who lives in Olney. Thelma passed in October of 2010.

Jerry and Thelma owned and operated the Town Talk Drive Inn on East Main Street for many years. They purchased the local Culligan business in 1970 and later expanded into water-well drilling and repair.

Jerry was a cancer survivor, having fought esophageal cancer and succeeding at the age of 79 against great odds. He was never one to complain and always ready to help. Jerry did not know the meaning of the word "retire" and you would find him at his office desk six days a week. He loved to read novels, watch TV news, football and St. Louis Cardinals games.
