Dorothy June Ivy (Hurt)

Dorothy June Hurt, 86, of Olney, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Funeral services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with Minister Larry Weber officiating. Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park in rural Claremont.

Mrs. Hurt was born August 27, 1921, in Claremont, the daughter of Jim and Emma (Salling) Ivy. She married John Alvin Hurt on August 24, 1940, in Madisonville, Ky. He survives.

She was a retired secretary and spent the past several years enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, trying new recipes and playing bingo. She used to love dancing and missed it when she was no longer physically able to do it. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Olney.

Mrs. Hurt is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Hurt; son, David Hurt; daughter, Cheryl Ginder; grandchildren, Jennifer Adams, Stacy Pennington, Cindy Barton, David (DJ) Hurt, Shawn Ginder, James Ginder, Kyle Ginder, and Kelsey Ginder; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, June Ivy, of Owensboro, Ky.

She was welcomed at heaven's door by her parents; brother, John Elmer Ivy; nephew, John Stephen Ivy; and grandson, Brett Anthony Ginder, who passed in a motor-vehicle accident in July 2005.

She treasured her times with family and greatly missed her brother, nephew and grandson.
