Leonard L. Haines

Leonard L. Haines, age 61 of Worland, Wyoming passed away Friday, February 18, 1983 in Washakie Memorial Hospital the result of cancer. He was born in Hominy, Oklahoma on March 14, 1922 the son of Leander L. and Leona P. (Kinman) Haines. On May 28, 1948 he married Mary Bernice Brammer in Worland. Leonard’s father, Leander came to this area during the oil boom, later transferring to Van, Texas eventually retiring from Pure Oil Co.

Leonard came to the Big Horn Basin in Worland in 1946 and co-founded Haines Trucking Co. which received safety awards each year from Wyoming Trucking Association. He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite bodies, Shrine and Elks Lodge. During World War II he served in the Marine Corp. in the South Pacific.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Douglas Lee of Eugene, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Deborah Lenn Morrison of Worland and Mrs. Danni Leigh McElhinny of Rock Springs; his father, Leander Haines of Van, Texas; two brothers, Teddy L. of Chandler, Tex. And Daniel J. of Pittsburg, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Donna Petty of Chandler and Mrs. Thelma Pease of Grand Junction, Colo. and three grandchildren.

Memorial Eucharist in St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. Cremation planned.
