Carol Justine (Scherer) Jones, 85, of Olney died Thursday, December 21, 2023, due to an inoperable brain hemorrhage. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.

Carol now joins her husband, William “Clay” Claburn Jones; son, Timothy Claburn Jones; parents, Luther and Lela Scherer of Olney and several family generations of Christians who loved the Lord.

Carol leaves behind two daughters, Lesa Chastain with her husband, Charlie of Springfield, MO and Melissa VanHoose with her husband, Ed of Norwalk, OH. Carol additionally leaves behind nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Lesa’s children Tiffany with her husband Eric and their children Jaidy, Archer and Ruby; Amanda with her husband Mike and their boys Clay and Ray; Chad with his wife, Bethany; and Chelsea with her husband Levi and their son Lincoln; Melissa’s children, Edward with his fiance’ Karyssa; Evan and Arianna with her fiance’ Korban. Timothy’s children Samantha with her son Noah and Amelia.

Carol will have a celebration of her life with all who wish to drop by and share a memory and see pictures from 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 2 at Faith Bible Church, 6015 Ill. 130 in Olney. There will not be a public graveside ceremony.

Faith Bible Church was a place of worship for Carol and Clay. They served in the church with their church friends, helping to spread the love of Christ.
