Carol Sager (Clay)

Carol Rose Sager Clay was born Nov. 18, 1938 to Harry Elmer and Flossie Mae Sager in Claremont, Ill. Carol passed away July 28, 2009 in San Marcos at age 70.

After graduating from high school, Carol received her nursing degree from Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. Carol served over 50 years as a registered nurse in various job positions and for the past ten years worked at Austin Gastroenter-ology.

On Dec. 27, 1959, Carol married Dick King in Olney, Il. Although divorced in 1981, Carol and Dick remained good and consistent friends. Carol married Michael J. Clay on Sept. 27, 1997 in Henly.

Carol and Mike were active members of First Baptist Church of San Marcos where Carol served on the Missions Committee and was an active part of the Heart Matters Bible Study Class. Mike and Carol participated in numerous yearly mission trips to the interior of Mexico, ministering to the Tarahumara Indians.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Kenneth Lee Sager and Paul Leland Sager.

Carol is survived by her husband, Mike Clay of San Marcos; her sons: Steven Richard King and his wife, Charlotte of Carte Madre, Calif. and John Glenn King and Cris Gonzalez of Austin; her daughter Cynthia Renee Maulding and her husband Monty, of Buda; step children: James Clay and his wife, Dawn and Tiffany Clay; grandchildren: Christy, Zachary, Zoe, Alec, Kylar, Kama and Cheyenne; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of good friends.

Funeral service at the First Baptist Church. Interment at Goss Cemetery in Claremont, Ill.
