Betty Myers (Brammeier)

Betty Lou (Myers) Brammeier, age 82, of Sparta, IL passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:38 a.m peacefully in her home. Betty was born on October 1, 1938 in Olney, IL a daughter to Charles Myers and Eva (Johnson) Myers.  She married Willaim T. Brammeier and they later divorced and he is deceased. 

Betty taught for many years at a few schools with the last being the art teacher at the Sparta Lincoln school until she retired in 1994.  She moved to Tennessee after retirement and then she moved back to Sparta in the fall of 2016.  Betty was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sparta, IL.  Betty loved doing all types of art work, playing Scrabble with everyone,writing poems, wrote a book about her dad, and spending time when she could at the Roscoe Misselhorn Art Gallery.  She loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include one son; Chuck (Melissa) Brammeier of Coulterville, IL, 5 grandchildren; Amanda Hardy of Wasilla, AK, Chris Bowen of Kingsland, GA, Brent Bowen of Kingsland, GA, Cliff (Desi) Brammeier of DeSoto, MO, and Marian (Kati) Brammeier of Pinckneyville, IL; 8 great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Crawford, Reno Hardy, Gabriel Hardy, William Bowen, Thomas Bowen, Emersyn Brammeier, Lizabelle Brammeier, and Easton Brammeier.  She is also survived by 4 siblings, Dorothy McDowell, Kenny (Sara) Myers, Connie Stevens, and Dewey (Karen) Myers; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, daughter; Bettina Brammeier Bowen, brother Chester Myers, brother Richard Myers, and sister Marie Reynolds.

Betty's wishes were to be cremated.  A private service will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the Roscoe Misselhorn Art Gallery in Sparta, IL or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
