Shelby Ginder (Raube)

Shelby J. Raube, 78, of Pontiac, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at her home in Pontiac.   Her service held at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac with Deacon Jim Wallace officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Shelby was born February 7, 1938 in Sainte Marie Township in Jasper County, IL to Elmer and Josephine ( Michl ) Ginder.  She married Robert Brooks, Sr. in 1956. She later married Charles Raube on December 16, 1971. He passed away May 29, 2016.

She is survived by her children, Malinda (Joe) Valeu of Shirley, IL, Bob Brooks of Normal, IL, Russell (Michelle) Brooks of Olney, IL, and Scott (Michelle) Brooks of Mt. Carmel, IL; sisters, Maxine Lidh of Cullowhee, NC, Norma Beavers of Newton, IL, and Joann Robinson of Olney, IL; grandchildren, Taryn (Taylor Cool) Fortner, Nicholas (Kate) Fortner, Casie Brooks, Ransom Brooks, and Gina (Wes) Odell; and great grandchildren, Jack, Harper, Kennedy, Jase, and Brody.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brother, Jim Ginder; and grandson Dustin Fortner.

Shelby worked at the Pontiac Elks Lodge as a waitress for over 44 years. Being known for her sense of humor and quick wit, Shelby enjoyed being around her friends and people at the Elks. She loved to play cards with her dear friends and greatly enjoyed time spent with her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was fortunate to have two precious dogs, Dakota and Jozie, that she and her husband loved dearly.
