Mary Louise Piper, 86, of Lawrenceville, formerly of Olney, Illinois, died early May 31, 2010 at the Lawrenceville Manor.
She was born December 2, 1923 in Lawrenceville, the daughter of Lloyd and Daisy (Norton) Piper. She was involved in education most of her life. Mary spent 17 years teaching Navajo children on the Indian reservation in Farmington, New Mexico. She also spent 29 years both as a teacher and a guidance counselor at East Richland High School in Olney, Illinois.
Mary received her Bachelors Degree from Eastern Illinois University, in Charleston, IL; her Masters Degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL; and a Degree in Divinity from Scarritt College in Nashville, TN.
Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church in Olney, IL.
Survivors include two brothers Don and Earl Piper both of rural Lawrenceville and one sister Jean McKee of Camp Verde, AZ.
A memorial service held at May Chapel Cemetery.
