D. Eugene "Gene" Eagleson, 80 of Ina, formerly of Mattoon and Olney died Monday April 26, 1999 at Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with the Rev. Tim Pate officiating. Burial in Kirk Cemetery in Ina.

Mr. Eagleson was born February 1, 1919, the son of Dewey C. and Marie (Worstell) Eagleson. He married Alice I. Semple on August 24, 1940. She died in 1978. He then married Ruth Waterman. She survives.

He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and for Kuettne Manufacturing in Mattoon. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Eastern Star and a member of the West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Eagleson is survived by his wife, Ruth of Ina; one son D. Eugene Eagleson Jr. and his wife, Linda of Mattoon; one daughter, Mary Louise Seely and her husband, Alan of Chesterfield, Mo.; three step-daughters, Donna Schreiber, Tina Robertson, and Kimberly MacMillan; three grandsons; one granddaughter; two step-grandsons and five step-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
