Leona Diel (Street)

Leona G. (Diel) Street, 100, of Olney, died peacefully on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.

Leona was born on December 30, 1920 in Richland County, Illinois, the daughter of Paris and Chloe Lillie (Ring) Diel. She married Roe George Street on December 21, 1940, and he preceded her in death on October 6, 1979.

Leona enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and was a very health conscious person. She was a hardworking, family-oriented woman who had a strong faith in the Lord and was a long-time member of Bible Fellowship Church in Olney. Leona was a bookkeeper for her son, Gary, at Street Chiropractic for 50 years.

Leona is survived by her son, Dr. Robert (Carolyn) Street of Cave Creek, AZ and daughter, Sharon Burt of Olney; daughter-in-law, Shirley Street; grandchildren, Mark Huchel and wife Tammy, Heather Martin and husband Derek, Lori Tarr and husband Brett, and Alisha Street; great grandchildren, Alec, Austin, and Ashley Arnold, Andrew and Grant Tarr, and Marque and Lillian Huchel; great-great grandson, Asher Lee Huchel.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Dr. Gary R. Street; grandson, Mike Huchel; parents; brothers, Delmer and Jack Diel; and sister, Betty Kosack.

A funeral service will be held for Leona at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.
