Irene Burgener (Thomann)

Irene Elizabeth (Burgener) Thomann, 87, of Noble, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at her home after a short battle with cancer.  Services at Glenwood Church. Burial in North Freedom Cemetery north of Noble.

Mrs. Thomann was born on September 25, 1921, the daughter of Christian and Bertha Burgener. She married J.F. "Fritz" Thomann on December 1, 1946. He survives.

She attended Olney Township High School and Browns Business College of St. Louis. She worked for General Telephone and Pure Oil Company in Olney. For the past 63 years she has been a homemaker and a member of Glenwood Church.

Mrs. Thomann is survived by her seven children, Mike Thomann and his wife, Ruth, of Olney, Duane Thomann and his wife, Barbara, of Noble, Gail Baughman, of O'Fallon, Kay Stoltz and her husband, Dan, of Olney, Fay Hedrick and her husband, Scott, of Noble, Barbara Wade and her husband, David, of Noble, and John and his wife, Gail, of Noble; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Pritchard and Margueriete Prosser, both of Olney; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Keith Burgener; grandson, Todd Mack; and son-in-law, Dan Baughman.
