Dennis R. "Denny" Totten, 76, of Olney, IL, passed away on November 8, 2024 in Olney, IL. Denny was born May 30, 1948 in Olney, IL to parents, Paul and Juanita (Miller) Totten.

Denny worked for Marathon for many years and was well known by those in the Southern Illinois oil field. After retirement he began working for Baker Hughes, which took him all over the United States.

Denny was an active member of the Olney VFW and participated in hundreds of Honor Guard Details. He also was an assistant football coach for the Olney Tigers and coached multiple generations of athletes through the program.

Denny enjoyed hunting and would go out West to hunt big game. He had an appreciation for the Native American culture and enjoyed being in the western US.  Denny took pleasure in being outdoors, camping, going on cruises, and socializing with his friends.

Denny was well loved and respected by his community. He will be remembered as a loving, generous, and helpful friend.

Denny is survived by nephew, Tony Utz of Olney; two great nieces, Amanda and Andrea; and daughter-in-law, Danielle Leavell.

He is preceded in death by parents; daughter, Melissa Totten; son, Jeff Totten; sister, Pat Utz; and brother, Dick Totten.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements. A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney with a Memorial Service beginning at 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the VFW Post #4226 or the Richland County High School Football Program.
