John D. Raley, 73, of Olney, formerly of Utica, IL passed away September 6, 2021 at Helia Healthcare, Olney, IL.  John was born December 24, 1947 in Richland Co, IL to David and Marcella (Barkhurst) Raley. He married Gloria Jean (Ambrose) Raley on December 16, 1972 in Triumph, IL.

John was a US Army 101st Airborne Veteran. He was a member of the VFW Post #4226, Petroleum Club, and the Olney Elks. John was a Union Sheet Metal Worker for the Local 1 out of Ottawa, IL. He retired as a maintenance supervisor for IDOT.

John was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a large gun enthusiast. He also enjoyed searching for mushrooms. John took pleasure in keeping up with his friends on social media. John's sarcasm and quick wit was always enjoyed by his friends and family.

John is survived by his wife, Jean Raley of Olney; daughter, Jennifer Ann Raley of Oglesby, IL; daughter, Sonya Nicole Chipman and husband Todd of Oglesby, IL; grandchild, Allison Rae Beavers; mother, Marcella Raley; brother, Brad (Chris) Raley; sister, Linda (Sonny) Ritter; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements. Cremation Rites were accorded.
