Allen E. Summers

Allen E. Summers, age 73 of Robinson, IL passed away Wednesday April 28, 2021 in his home with his loving wife by his side, following a long battle with cancer. Born July 21, 1947 in Olney, IL he was the son of Edward Eugene and Lola B. (Kistner) Summers. On November 23, 1997 he married Joan Nidey and she survives.

Allen retired as a State Farm Insurance Agent with twenty-five years general agency service. Prior to owning and operating a general insurance agency, Allen owned and operated a general merchandise hardware store in Albion, IL. Allen taught school for nine years immediately after graduating Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He was a member and Past President of Kiwanis; member of AF & AM 250, Robinson Masonic Lodge; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Danville; AINAD Shrine Temple, Valley of St. Louis; BPO Elks #1188, Robinson, IL; Robinson Township Library Board; Robinson Chamber of Commerce and Loyal Order of Moose, Albion, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joan Summers, Robinson, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Cindy Summers, Oak Park, IL; a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Shawn Bachellor, Bay Cliff, TX; three grandchildren, Lydia and twins, Charles and Claire; a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Melvin Stenkelwicz, Olney, IL; along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Marjorie Schermack.

The Funeral Service will be Saturday May 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with Pastor Shane Bopp officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Interment will follow services in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL

Frank Wagner (1965)

Allen grew up a couple of houses away from me and we had a lot of fun together as kids.  He was a very nice guy and clearly had a loving family and a good career.  May his memory be for a blessing.

John Joseph Miller (1964)

Was friends with Alan in High School and then at OCC. Alan was a genuinely nice guy and a pleasure to be around. Res in Peace and God Speed.

Norman Martin (1965)

I don't  know anyone who had more friends than Alllen did. He was a very special friend to all who knew him.  He will be sadly missed by all especially his family.  See you in Heaven my friend.
