In Memory

Tom E. Potter - Class Of 1979

Tom E. Potter

Thomas Eugene Potter, 60, of Kingsland, Texas, went home to be with Jesus on December 12, 2020, due to complications resulting from a stroke.

Thomas, known to most as Tom, was born June 17, 1960 in Santa Monica, California. At a young age, his parents, Ben and Mattie Potter, moved the family to Sulfur Springs, Texas but eventually traveled north to make their home in Olney, Illinois. After high school, Tom returned to Texas where he met and married Vanessa Reynolds and soon welcomed sons Matthew and Dylan to the family.

Tom made his career as a crane operator on the Gulf Coast but touched many more lives while working in construction, assembly-line manufacturing, and public service. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, making new memories, and spending time with those he loved.

Tom will be dearly missed mostly for his friendship but also for his ability to never meet a stranger and his “damn the bullets, full speed-ahead” gusto for life.

Tom is survived by two sons, Matthew Thomas Potter of Oyster Creek, Texas and Dylan Roy Potter of Spicewood, Texas; two step-children; two granddaughters.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mattie Potter of Olney, Illinois where his interment will take place at a later date.

The family would like to express their thanks to the medical professionals that dedicated endless hours of expert care on behalf of Tom and the incredible friends and co-workers who were there for encouragement and support during their time of need.
