
Daniel James Ritter, 58 of Calhoun, Illinois passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at his home from complications of diabetes.
He was born on September 25, 1959 in Olney, Illinois to William Paul Ritter Sr and Marilyn Sue (Wynn) Ritter.
Dan was a lifelong and devoted member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
He was a mechanic and worked as the Shop Foreman at Byrds Lawn and Landscaping in North Carolina before moving back to Illinois. Dan was a Bee Keeper, Indian Relic collector, loved going on Rock Diggs, going to Auctions and was a Collector of many things. He enjoyed being outside doing many activities and traveling. Dan especially loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Dan is survived by his loving family: mother, Marilyn Sue (Wynn) Ritter of Olney; daughter, Nickie Sue Ritter of Olney and significant other Gary Presicci; granddaughter, Daisy Daniel of Olney; brother, Robert “Bob” Ritter and wife Hope of Olney; uncles, Cloren “Corky” Wynn and wife Laura of Lindsay, California, Junior Wynn and wife Janice of Louisville, Kentucky, Edward Ritter and wife, Shirley, of Olney; Douglas Cassady, of Olney; nephews , J.R.Ritter and wife, Keri of Olney, Chris Ritter of Olney, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Paul Ritter Sr; brother, William Ritter Jr; grandparents Cloyd and Thelma Wynn, Robert Lawrence, Sarah Ritter and step grandfather, Harry Cassady, and uncle Robert Ritter.
Dan’s wishes were to have his body donated to science for diabetes research.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. There will be a time of sharing with the family beginning at 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital.
