John Robert Vaughn passed away on October 20, 2023, in Springfield Memorial Hospital from kidney disease. John was born on April 10, 1951, in Olney, IL.

He played high school football and basketball. He attended Harlington, TX. Marine Military Academy, Olney Central College, and Sangamon State University. He had a long and varied career in many fields, including stints at the United States Post Office, real estate, and Kralis Poultry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth; and his sister Mary Gertrude Newcomb.

John is survived by his two children, Frank Oleg of Tampa, and Robert John of Chicago; brothers, Charles Bradley (Karen), Allen Zean, Ray (Marcia) Weber of Olney, and Frank Edward of San Francisco; sisters, Ann Therese (Michael) Cravens of Tucson, Carol Elizabeth Schafer of Palos Heights, and Kathleen Goudy of Olney; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins by the dozens.

A shared memorial service will be held for John and his sister Kathleen at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation for friends and family beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.
