Steve Martin - Class Of 1968 VIEW PROFILE

Steve Martin

Stephen Ray Martin, age 73, opened his eyes in Heaven on June 5, 2024.

Born in West Salem, Illinois on October 22, 1950, Steve served honorably in the United States Army and fought during the Vietnam War. He graduated at the top of his class in the US Army Advanced Engineering School and also served under General Alexander Haig during President Richard Nixon’s administration. He was an Army Recruiter and Guidance Counselor before retiring in 1979. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, provider and friend to many. Steve enjoyed playing golf with friends, loved going to the beach and the mountains, and especially spending time with friends and family.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Beatrice Martin; sister, Linda Ballard; and nephew, Kevin Ballard. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Debby Martin; sons, Jeff Martin (Christina), Josh Martin (Jane), and John Martin (Barbie); grandchildren, Max and Rachel Martin, Makyah Martin, Zach and Emma Martin, and bonus grandchildren, Sophie, Ted, and Henry; and brother, Tom and sister, Kim.

A service with military honors to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:00 am at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina.

Debby ,you certainly have my sympathy . Steve talked very higly about you and his family .
May Steve rest in peace and May God comfort your family .

My heart and my prayers go out to you and your family, Debby. Steve became a very dear friend to me and Jim in the last 9-10 years. I was so sad he is gone from us, but happy he is with Jesus and we will see him again some day.
