Thomas E. Bones - Class Of 1968

Thomas E. Bones

On Sunday, July 14th, 2024 Thomas “Tom” Eugene Bones, a beloved husband, father, Granddad, son and brother, left us and went to live eternally with God. He was seventy-three. He was born on September 8, 1950 in Olney, Illinois, to John and Frances Bones.

Tom graduated from the University of Illinois with a Masters in Education Administration and went on to become an amazing and well-loved elementary school Principal. Over the last 5 ½ years Tom showed the world what it meant to be brave, strong, determined and dedicated while he was battling cancer. He had a strong faith in God and was continually learning God’s word.

Tom was known for his kind and loving heart, being humble, never complaining and always focusing more on the people around him than what he was experiencing. Tom was always willing to do anything and everything to help anyone in need. His hobbies were working around his house, cooking, and hanging out in the pool drinking rum and coke and listening to smooth Jazz. His family appreciated his knowing how to help his kids fix anything in their homes, being a great sounding board on many different aspects of life and knowing a lot about the history of the world. He enjoyed spending time with his friends playing Rumikub, Mexican Train, Hand and Foot and other games. One thing he was never able to accomplish was learning how to pick out a good movie, which Jennifer and his children never failed to remind him of.

He is survived by soul mate/wife Jennifer Bones, his four children, Shantel Bones, Tavis (Holly) Bones, Sara (John) Kearns, and Samantha (Brad) Gutzki; grandchildren, Isla Bones, Crew Bones, Kaytie Kearns, Landin Lindenbusch, Layla Kearns, Cierra Kearns, Lily Kearns, Ben Kearns, Augustus Gutzki, Lola Gutzki and Baby Gutzki; his fur baby Bella Bones; and his fur baby grandchildren Fini and Jedi. He is further survived by his siblings, John (Helen) Bones, III, Chris Fischer and Jim (Janet) Bones.

No services are scheduled at this time.
