Steven Leathers

Steven Lee Leathers, age 75, passed away Jan. 6, 2025, in LaPorte, Texas.

Steven was the beloved husband of Kathy Hammond Leathers, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Emily Leathers and William Leathers and a proud grandfather to Genevieve “Gigi” Leathers.

Steven will also be deeply missed by his brothers Roger McGhee and family of Vincennes, Indiana, and Richard Leathers and his wife Kathy of Olney. His memory will be cherished by Russ and Marieta Hammond of Olney, Bruce and Patricia Hammond of Willis, Texas, Becky and Rick Kellett of Caldwell, Texas, as well as his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Myrl Leathers.

Steven graduated from East Richland High School in 1967. Shortly after marrying Kathy in March 1970, he was drafted into the military and served his country in Vietnam beginning in April 1970. In May 1982, Steven relocated to the Houston area of Texas, where he worked as a design engineer and retired 12 years ago.

Steven’s life was marked by dedication to his family and service to his country. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
