David E. Lawless, 72, of Olney, Ilinois passed away on August 21, 2021 in Olney.  David was born February 10, 1949 in Olney, IL to Virgil and Martha (Wilson) Lawless. He married Molly Lou (McCommons) on February 14, 1969 in Flora, IL.

Dave started D. Lawless Contractors around 1975 where he painted and sandblasted oil tanks. He also helped with his fathers business, Tru-Vex Glass, starting in 1984. In 1991 he started D. Lawless Wholesale and in 1999 he had his first online hardware order for D. Lawless Hardware, which has expanded to be an international hardware business.  Dave enjoyed building things, collecting unique items, learning new skills, and spending time with his family.

He was a member of Elm Street Christian Church

Dave is survived by wife, Molly Lou Lawless of Olney; son, Derrick Lawless and wife Dr. Belen of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Aiden and Chloe Lawless; brother, Ed Lawless of Linden, TX; brother-in-law, Duane McCommons and wife Lonna of McMinnville, OR; and several nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Kyle Edmond Lawless and Dane Richard Lawless.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements. A visitation will be on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.A funeral will be at 10:00 AM on August 25, 2021 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.

Interment will take place on August 25, 2021 at Haven Hill Cemetery.                     

Memorials can be made to Olney Humane Society or Elm Street Christian Church Youth
