Rita Lynn Cammon (Wood)

The Rev. Lynn Cammon Wood,  57, died December 19, 2011 following an extended battle with ovarian cancer.

Lynn served for the past 15 years as Parish Associate at Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charleston, along with her husband, Pastor Robert Wood.

Lynn is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bob; her son, Justin with girlfriend, Amie Benson; and son, Colin and wife, Emily Wood, with grandson, Elias Lee Wood. She is also survived by her mother, Lois Cammon of Olney, Ill.; brother, Dale Cammon and wife, Kate, and children of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Roger Cammon and wife, Alicia, and children of St. Louis; and sister, Kay Knapp and husband, Chuck, and children of Xenia, Ill. She also included as family, Joyce Cammon and husband Doug Felt, and children of St. Louis.

Lynn was born in Olney, Ill., to the late Legion Lee Cammon and Lois Cammon. She graduated from Greenville College in Greenville, Ill., and Fuller Thelogical Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., with a Master of Divinity degree. Lynn was an ordained Presbyterian minister of 27 years, who served congregations in Nevada, California and West Virginia. She was a vital member of the Presbytery of West Virginia. She thrived in her primary role of Christian Education, and was a wonderful teacher and mentor of children and adults. Her faith and commitment to her Lord and her church centered her life, and was vibrant and contagious. Lynn was always reading, and shared her knowledge and keen insight with many. She deeply enjoyed singing with womansong; leadership at Bluestone Camp; serving on the board of RCCR; and conversations of significance. In this last year, she was delighted by her grandson, Eli.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held at Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church, Charleston. The Rev. Amy Parker will officiate and womansong will participate.
