Farm Mishap in West Liberty

A farm woman was killed late Wednesday, December 23, 1981 when her clothing caught in a tractor power takeoff as she helped her husband load corn into a bin.

Carol Sue Ederer, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 5 p.m. accident by Jasper County Coroner, Darrel Holland.  Her husband, Allen, was working at the top of the bin and Carol was near the auger carrying the corn from a truck, the coroner said.  The accident took place on the couple's farm about four miles south and one mile east of Ste. Marie.  An inquest will be held later.

Funeral services at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in Goss Cemetery.

Carol was born in Olney, August 9, 1954 to Samuel and Wilma (Gerber) Beck.  She married Allen Ederer in Olney in 1973.  He survives.  She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two sons, Brian Allen and Brad Allen, both at home; a sister, Connie Beck of Olney; her parents; and several aunts and uncles. Grandmothers, Mrs. Erma Beck and Mrs. Laura Derler also survive.
