
Helen (Grove) Bennett, 89, of Olney, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Burgin Manor in Olney. Helen was born February 9, 1925 in Dundas, Illinois, the daughter of George Roy Grove and Olive Emma (Kermicle). She married Ivan L. Bennett on September 6, 1944 in Tampa, Florida. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1997.
Helen was the owner of the Olney Greenhouse from May 1, 1960 to the present. She and her husband were also previous owners of the Olney Skating Rink and the Newton Flower Shop. Helen had a special passion for flowers and was active in her floral business right up to her recent illness. She also took pleasure in spending time with her family. Helen was a long time member of Mt. Gilead Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue Burgin of Olney and Sally Cherry and husband Wayne of Mt. Vernon, IL; grandchildren, Robin Hout of Olney, Dee Burgin of Paris, IL, April Hertenstein and husband Travis of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Bryn Ealey of Naples, FL; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Zuniga and husband Al of Deer Park, TX and Bryan Cherry and wife Ashley of Washington, IL; great grandchildren, Hunter and Tanner Hout, Mackenzie, Natalie, Mallaree, and Bryarlee Burgin, Carter and Reese Hertenstein, Zachary, Avery, Hope, and Chynna Zuniga, and Emery and Chord Cherry; sister-in-law, Pauline Grove; nephews, George Snider and Tom Grove; and niece, Linda Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Kathy Bennett, brothers, Glenn and Vernon Grove, sister, Ruth Snider, nephew Dennis Groves, and niece Lenore Elliott.
