Moore, SC – Wayne Benard Hunt, Jr. began walking on streets of gold on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Wayne was the son of the late Wayne Benard Hunt, Sr. and Rose Mary Martino of Olney, IL. He was the loving husband of 40 years to Shirley Sweeting Hunt.

Wayne was a member of LifeSong Church and was so grateful that God gave him the Holy Spirit on November 24, 2021. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as Presidential Security and undercover in the narcotics division based in Quantico, VA. He worked for many years after his service as a project manager in the landscaping business and without hesitation, went back to Balad, Iraq for 3 years during the Iraqi war as a government contractor serving as a project site manager. Wayne shared many thoughts with his wife, Shirley, and wanted to be remembered for a person who got things done; a person who worked long and hard for his whole life; and most importantly, a person who, alongside his wife, raised a wonderful, God-loving son. Wayne loved his son, Robin, dearly. Everything in his life was done with his son in mind. He was so very proud of him and poured his heart and soul into Robin, daily.

Wayne had many things that he was grateful to God for. A few of those things included a good and loving Pentecostal wife whom he just celebrated an anniversary with; A wonderful, problem-free son who has followed the path God laid for him with his musical talent; and a great daughter-in-law (daughter-in-love) who is sweet. She is a good wife and mother and oh-so beautiful. Shari, keep playing the violin and preaching for God. Most importantly, his grandchildren, Asher, Finny, and Addie – words could never express the undying love he held for those precious children.

In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his beloved son, Robin Kristopher Hunt (Shari Katherine); his precious grandchildren, Asher Hunt, Finny Hunt, and Addie Hunt; his brothers, Mark A. Hunt of Moore, SC, Richard Hunt of Denver, CO, and Brett “Matt” Matthew Hunt (Debbie) of Inman; as well as many other loved family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Jeanette Martino; Mark and Katherine Hunt.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Wayne’s friends, Tony Graham, Bob and Kathy Hinckley, Debbie and Randy Mueller, Janice and David Stone, his girls – Sandy Tallant, Deborah Barrett, Donna Bishop, Caroline Carrie Joy Dalton, Adriana Buckler and Michelle Starnes.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Living Waters Funeral Home & Crematory from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will begin at 3:00 PM. Rev. Bill Cox will officiate. Following the service - all are welcome to the home of Shirley Hunt.
