Marilyn V. Bennett, 63, of Topeka, Kan., and formerly of Olney, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at Newman Regional Hospital in Emporia, Kan.  Graveside services at Star of Hope Chapel at Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Claremont with Reverend Burl Shinkle officiating.

Mrs. Bennett was born June 23, 1947, in Olney, the daughter of Lessel "Buck" and Ruth (Richey) Travers. She married Phillip Bennett. He survives.

She was a homemaker and member of Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene. Marilyn's talent and love was music, especially gospel music.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by her husband, Phillip Bennett, of Topeka, Kan., and brother, Kenneth Travers and his wife Leota of Olney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lessel "Buck" and Ruth Travers, and sister, Donna.
