Thomas R. "Tom" O'Brien, 89, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. Tom was born on March 13, 1933 in Richland County, Illinois, the son of Russell Thomas and Mabel (Ernst) O'Brien. He married Betty "Jean" McDowell on April 6, 1990, and she survives.

Tom enjoyed collecting and restoring antique Oliver Tractors as well as showing them at County Fairs and Tractor shows. He also enjoyed traveling all over the country. He was a lifelong farmer and raised livestock and grain. Tom loved his family very much and took pleasure in spending time with them.

Tom is survived by his wife, Jean O'Brien of Olney; son, Larry O'Brien and wife Teresa of Madison, KY; son, Jim O'Brien and wife Lisa of Olney; son, Rob O'Brien of Broughton, IL; daughter, Cheryl Galloway of Fountain, CO; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; brother, Bill O'Brien; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George O'Brien; sister, Colleen Hawkins; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl O'Brien.

A funeral service held at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney with interment at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont.
